Italy postpones sugar tax and plastic tax
As part of its Budget Law for 2023, Italy has postponed the entry into effect of both its upcoming sugar and plastic tax.
Previously scheduled to come into effect from 1 January 2023, the application date of these taxes is now set to a year later.
The Plastic tax aims to reduce the production and introduction on the territory of single-use plastics.
Likewise, the UK introduced its own Plastic tax in April 2022 and Spain has recently adopted a similar tax.
